What materials are used in your toys?
At Monti Kids, safety is our number one priority, and we put a lot of effort into picking the material that is best and safest for each individual part of our toys to meet the highest standards for children under three.
Each of our toys meet and exceed all U.S. safety certifications for ages 0-3 including ASTM and CPSC physical, mechanical, chemical, and flammability tests done by a leading third-party lab. So you can be sure that the toys are non-toxic and safe for your child.
We manufacture 95% of our toys from wood to provide you with beautiful toys that will last for years to come. We use both solid wood and extremely hard-to-find, high-grade Russian plywood. We select the wood for each toy based on strength and safety. It may seem counterintuitive, but for some shapes and toy configurations, solid wood would never pass safety testing. In other shapes and configurations, solid wood is the only wood that can pass. Both our solid wood and plywood have also been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council as being sustainably sourced.
Our wooden toys are also coated in clear finishes and colored paints and stains. All proprietary Monti Kids finishes, paints and stains are water-based and 100% non-toxic, meaning they are safe for your little one even as he or she mouths our toys - an important part of sensorial learning!
The other 5% of our toys include other materials depending on their function and to provide additional sensorial learning. For example, our mobiles include paper for slow movement your newborn can easily track, and some of our balls are crocheted so that they can be easily grasped. This also allows it to roll at a slower speed for your baby to practice gross motor skills and follow.
